Scotland's Gardens Cattanach Fund
Scotland’s Gardens Cattanach Fund is a small grant scheme, new for 2023, for people working or training in horticulture in Scotland. The fund should be used for personal and professional development training relating to horticulture, with a maximum award level of £1,500 (average award anticipated £750). This bursary was made possible by the generous bequest of Mr Albert Cattanach, a regular visitor of SGS' open gardens.
Eligibility
Open to horticulturists of all ages over 16, living and working in Scotland
Examples of eligible projects include courses, study tours, training and, exceptionally, overseas study tours
Funds will not cover tools and equipment unless directly related to the delivery of a specific course
Criteria
Applicants must be training or working in horticulture in Scotland
Main source of income must be through gardening/horticulture (or about to be, for example, soon to qualify)
Must be unable to afford training without additional support
The grant purpose will be to advance the applicant’s professional career in horticulture
Training should be for something that’s beyond an employer’s commitment
Applicants must commit to providing a report on their grant including details of the project/training and how it benefitted them

How to apply
The fund is open from 1st March 2023 and applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. The fund will be administered via the Professional Gardeners Trust (PGT) on behalf of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. Apply using the application form on the Professional Gardeners Trust website and email your completed form to reportsmanager@pgtrust.org. Please mark your email with ‘Scotland’s Gardens Cattanach Fund’ in the email subject line.
